THE TREMENDOUS POWER OF AFFIRMATIONS

Affirmations are positive thoughts. The purpose of affirmations is to control input of thoughts so that the output or results are positive and healthy. Affirmations play a very crucial role in the process of achieving all that you want.

A positive affirmation effectively stops negative programming. They revise and flush out negative past conclusions that are deeply embedded in our personal data file. They build instead, new and constructive thought patterns within the mind, thereby allowing our personal power centers to find methods to achieve what we want.

Thus affirmations must be worded as clear, specific commands to the subconscious mind. Affirmations can work only if you have the belief that they can work. Thus you must start with an intense desire to believe in yourself. You really can be anything you want to be. You can achieve anything you wish to achieve. The only things that keep you back are self-doubt and deep-rooted fears and insecurity. 

Techniques of Affirmations:
  1. You can begin the process of convincing yourself, by telling your conscious and subconscious mind daily, that you genuinely believe in yourself. Work at improving your self-image. Make an effort to persuade your mind to believe that you are able, capable, and determine to succeed in any Endeavour.
  2. When you succeed in doing this, that is in transforming your self-image into a positive, courageous and believing one, then you will begin to understand and see the wonderful power of the human mind. Positive affirmations are one of the most powerful tools we can use to develop a positive self-image.
It is thus useful to invest time and effort to understand how and what types of affirmations work best for each of us. 

Types of Affirmations

1. Single word affirmations
It is useful when conscious bolstering is required, or when an activity is near at hand. The idea of a single, powerful, constructive, and positive word, constantly repeated, jolts the power centre within you into action and effectively removes any lingering negativity.

The selected word should appropriately describe what you wish to achieve. It must be repeated over and over again before moving into activity. The instruction thus given to the mind will filter into the power centre about thirty seconds after full concentration begins. The power centre then moves the body into desired action.

Single word affirmations are effective programming for athletes. Take the words speed, power, or strength. When repeated seconds before start up, athletes can get that much more speed, power or strength into their activity.

The word confidence repeated before any competition or important event, constitute the same type programming which can make the difference success and failure.
For example, DO IT NOW! Will be helpful. Now that you have the idea, you can create suitable words for yourself, words that work best for you.

2. WORD TRIPLETS
Three appropriate words combined in some instances give added power and conviction. The combination of words though, should flow smoothly, and rhythmically. Both nouns and  verbs cam be combined. But the best triplets contain only nouns or verbs. It all depends on what you want to achieve.
Examples
  1. CONFIDENCE             
SUCCESS                                before meeting a prospective customer
PERSUASION            

      2.      STUDY                    
               MEMORIZE                       for students before studying
               SUCCEED               

     3.       PEACE                    
               HARMONEY                      for good relationships
               GOODWILL          

3. SINGLE PHRASE AFFIRMATIONS
These contain a complete idea in writing. They should be read, not memorized. Visual contact helps impress the idea on your mental screen thus etching it onto a pocket-size card or call card and carried with you. Frequent review of your “goal card” acts as a strong motivator and helps realize its achievement faster.

Examples
  • “I am achieving my goals easily and effortlessly”.
  • “I am filled with vibrant good health everyday”.
  1. Each affirmation must be written in the present tense, in this way you are assuming that you have already achieved and desired end result.
  2. Your power centre can only process data in the present tense as it obeys your command literally. If your affirmations are in the future tense, your power centre thinks that you do not wish it to happen now and will suspend it from becoming a reality until you change your command to the present tense.
  3. Never work with more than 15 affirmations at any one time. Too many affirmations tend to thin out focus power.
  4. Repeat your affirmations at least 6 times slowly and with conviction. It takes 30 seconds for the subconscious mind to become receptive once concentration has begun.
  5. Visualize the achievement of your affirmation. See the fine details on your mental screen. You will feel uplifted each time you repeat your affirmation. Your uplifted emotions will open the door to your subconscious.
  6. Your most receptive times each day are 45 minutes before waking and sleeping.
  7. Do not show your goal card to anyone. It is yours – not meant to be exposed to the negative comments and disbelief of others.
4. EXPANDED WRITTEN AFFIRMATIONS
The goal execution ability of the power centre is directly proportionate to the information it receives from the conscious mind. The expended written affirmation thus stimulates imagination and creativity and defines clearly the image of your goal on your mental screen.
As enthusiasm charges the mind, the goal expands moving you closer to it achievement.
  1. Develop the habit of writing expanded affirmations for desired results in every phrase of your life – intellectual, spiritual, emotional, physical, family, social, financial, and career goals.
  2. Let the ideas of your desired goal fill your imagination. Let your pen flow in describing the minute details of your desire.
  3. Enjoy the upliftment you will feel in dreaming your dreams.
  4. Believe that your dreams will happen.
  5. Believe that you deserve to have your dreams fulfilled and you surely will.
  6. When you have written out your goals, sign them and put them away and go about your daily activities. Leave your power centre to compute the details and execute them.
  7. Write your affirmations as often as you need. The more goals you have, the more often you will enjoy their achievement over time.
5. MENTAL PICTURE AFFIRMATIONS (Creative Visualization)
  1. All of us have the ability of visualizing or building pictures onto our mental screen. Using this ability constructively and repeatedly is the key factor to successful self-programming.
  2. Always focus on what you want to happen, never on the way things seem to appear.
  3. Once you have made a specific request, it is important not to hang on to it. Release your thought vibration into the universe where it will be free to attract to it, the right energy for its manifestation. Every goal has a different gestation period. Only God can decide when our request will be granted.
  4. In mental picturing, always see yourself as a participant, not as an observer. In preparing for a competition of any kind, see yourself as the winner in all your glory. Feel the emotions of victory. These mental images supported by strong belief and emotions, will propel your power centre to deliver the results of victory into your life.
6. TAPED AFFIRMATIONS
Tape recording of verbal affirmations is powerfully effective. This technique allows you to sit and listen to the verbal instructions to your subconscious while you enjoy the emotions that build up with each positive statement.

Most taped affirmations on sale begin by relaxing your mind to facilitate maximum absorption of the affirmations.
  1. It is advisable for you to complete your own affirmations and read them into a tape. Listening to your own voice instructing your subconscious is highly effective.
  2. Make sure that when you listen to taped affirmations, you are in a quite room, free from distractions. Sit in a comfortable position on a chair with your back upright. Your feet should be flat on the floor, palms resting on your lap but not touching, head upright, and free to move or against a head rest.
  3. Close you eyes, breathe deeply to relax. Then enjoy the tape. Your relaxed mental and physical state will facilitate maximum absorption of the taped affirmations. You will be surprised how uplifted you feel listening to the potential realization of your inner most desires. Your self-image and confidence will be greatly bolstered. As the affirmations become absorbed into your subconscious, you will be directed towards the achievement of your own affirmations.
